Our 2 day ride just before Christmas this year was The CREB Track Blast and it really lived up to its name. We were on the bikes before 8.30am and rode to nearly 6pm on the first day, it was a huge day with many stops to take in the scenery and well earned breaks. The pace was really good with no real mishaps and no punctures. After leaving Cairns and travelling up the Kuranda Range we were into the lush trails mostly single track through the back of Mt Molloy coming out past Julatten and down the mighty Rex Range taking the coastal route to Daintree Village for a well earned break and great fish & chips for lunch. After lunch we were soon crossing the beautiful Daintree river and onto the famous CREB Track for some more great trail bike adventures. The CREB track was fast and scenic with its many creek crossings, hill climbs and riding around a few small scrub fires was a blast.
We arrived at the famous Lions Den Hotel and were greeted by Max the friendly publican at about 3pm but all were keen for some more action on the trails so a quick refill of the tanks and we were off again heading north to ride the headlands of Archer Point, what a beautiful place. Check out some of the video’s. Arriving back at the Lions Den for a hot shower and cold beer was a great way to finish off day one. Pizza for dinner was awesome.
Up early for breakfast and away by 8am saw us heading for the amazing Bloomfield Falls and onto the Zig Zag track, the country and trails around here are fantastic, i’m looking forward to our next two day ride in early jan 2013. Many thanks to our great sweep rider Nigel as we look forward to all our riding tours next year.
