A Cape York Trail Bike Adventure Review

North Queensland Trail Bike Adventures (NQTBA), operated by Greg McBeth and his team, are specialists in guided off-road dirt bike adventures around Cairns & Cape York.

I first met Greg on Maschine’s Burke & Wills Tour in 2015. Ever since, Greg’s Cairns to Cape York Trail Bike Tour has been on my bucket list. What an absolute blast! Why did it take me so long to take this tour?

NQTBA’s Cape York Motorcycle Adventure tours travel over 1400 kilometres, departing Cairns & riding to the top … ie: one-way. Then participants fly back to Cairns to make their way home. Along the way, NQTBA have access to private property, pastoral leases and traditionally owned lands, enabling participants to avoid long stretches of the Peninsula Developmental Road. Consequently, we enjoyed some great single-line tracks linking up to 4wd tracks including the legendary & well known 4wd tracks … ie: CREB Track, Starcke Wakooka Track, Frenchmans Track & The Old Telegraph Track (ie: full length).

Additionally, each year NQTBA acquires a fresh new fleet of Suzuki DRZ400E bikes, which they then tweak based on years of experience. This preparation, coupled with a very skilled & dedicated crew, pays off handsomely when ride participants inevitably drown the Suzuki’s in some of the many water crossings. I was repeatedly amazed at how quickly a drowned DRZ400 could be fired up and back on the track.

Tour price is all inclusive of rental of a fully insured bike, meals, accommodation, return flight to Cairns plus support crew. Riding gear is even available if you need it.
