North Queensland Trail Bike Adventures had the chance this week to put 5 of our new Suzuki DRZ400 enduro bikes through their paces around the hills and trails of Herberton, Irvinebank and Wondecla with 5 top riders coming up from Sydney. The bikes had been run in the week before by Nigel & myself, serviced, cleaned and the ride suspension set ready for the what awaited them with Andrew the loud one, Greg the quite one, brothers Andrew and Murray and their good mate Don. The trails were hot and dusty and the pace was fast and furious, the Suzuki’s thrived in the conditions and handled everything the lads could throw at them. We rode from Cairns up the Kuranda Range then along the trails of beautiful Lake Tinaroo through Atherton into the old logging and mining trails that scar the many hills of the Herberton Ranges. We rode hard for three days ending the first two days with a cold beer or two and a hot shower at the Historic Royal Hotel at Herberton. Its a great old Historic Queensland pub with great accommodation up stairs off the wide veranda’s. Many thanks to Paul the Publican/Owner. The last day after hitting the hardest trails of the three days we wandered down the Gillies Highway which is rated in the top twenty road rides of Austraila to a swim back home in Cairns to cool off the worn and bruised bodies, many thanks to Nigel our sweep who was always on the scene in times of need and to all the Sydney crew, a great memorable three days.
